Free-Space Optical Communication for ground-based applications
enabling high-speed wireless optical links across distances
Terrestrial Free-Space Optical Communication (FSOC) transmits data through the atmosphere using laser beams between ground-based terminals. This technology enables high-bandwidth, license-free, and secure communication links for distances up to tens of kilometers.
In February 2024, SPACEBEAM published a paper demonstrating a 20km FSOC experiment capable of 4K video streaming. This milestone validated our optical communication technology for real-world terrestrial applications.
